Jasper Johns - Detailof Flags

I am a long term encaustic painter who started this blog as a place to share my inspirations with other artists. I am always searching for specific techniques which I can try out in my own work and for inspiring new work.

As a background if you are not familiar with the medium, Encaustic Painting is the art of using Heated Beeswas along with colored pigments to create a dimentional painting. Encaustics are one of the oldest forms of painting and reach back to the Egyptian Fayum mummy portraits from Egypt around 100-300 AD. However, Encaustics are having a huge contemporary explosion in the art world. This can be attributed hugely to the fantastic work of Jasper Johns.
